PHOTO MONTAGE: POSTCARD FROM THE CITY
For this assignment, the student is to select an unfamiliar small outdoor area within Greater Boston. The place should encompass no more than a city block, but it could be just a corner of a park, an intersection or an alleyway.The location should not be a major landmark and must not be in or around Boston University. This includes Kenmore Square, Bay State Road, the Esplanade and Fenway Park. The task is to create a photo montage based on this location. The montage must:
Students should keep in mind that they will be using these photos in a montage— a sequence of images that will play as a movie. Therefore, they may find it helpful to frame their images for the standard 16 x 9 video screen. In any event, they should keep in mind that their photos ultimately must work in the context of a video project.
Using Premiere editing software, students will edit the photos into a montage no longer than 90 seconds. The finished sequences will be output as silent QuickTime movies and uploaded for review on students’ websites.
